But I’m here to talk about Matt Steven‘s book. This was the first project I backed on Kickstarter and I’m glad I did. I just got my copy of the first edition in the mail. So pumped off of this. Making sure this joint is visible, right next to Made For Skate and the Street Fighter book my broham sent me. Here are a couple of snaps of my favorites.

The event went great and no surprise, since Ben and Omar are class acts. We had some good laughs and talked some business. There was a small after party that followed and I’ll just say it was definitely memorable.

Preston and Matt Pailes were fired up talking about Boston! It got loud so I bailed after this picture.

First off, we had to make a pit stop at the Liquor store for some refreshments. Beer Is a great way to keep guys motivated. By this time I was having technical issues with my camera and missed a lot of good shots of the guys ripping the park. All in all, if you read the previous posts, then you got a good idea on how this day has transpired.

We were all stationed in this spot for most of the night.

Yet again, the TM is on it with a beer run for the boys.

Our last meal before we headed back to Sacramento was Colton’s local Pho spot in the Sunset district. Did you notice; only one red beanie.

Getting this many people ready to roll is no easy task for a TM, but Billy did a great job keeping the group moving.

With the Sun falling quick we hightailed it to Mather Skate Park. HA Critical TM and Project Grey CEO wasted no time and jumped right into a heavy sesh of R&R.

Dave just goes for it and hits this steezed out front nosegrind. Dave has so many tricks up his sleeve.

Now that the crew was warmed up, Mike pulls this glory line and all I could yell was, ” Who says lines are dead!!!”.

Mr. Camera Man himself, Russ V had the big guns on deck to capture all the highlights.

I was so motivated by the the amount of tricks being thrown down I gave it go with this blunt slide to fakie manual out. But, I really feel the best part of this picture are the reflectors on my Dekline’s.

This shot of Fitz tells the story of so many skaters. The look of victory when rolling back from getting that line on film.

And…. It’s time for the playback.

With a rebel yell, Russ shouts the anthem of the day, “You’re on another level!!”.

The sun was gone and the entire crew is starving but, Dave was determined to get this last trick in. After a handful of try’s, Fitz says, “Next try and I buy dinner”. With an offer like that I think Dave felt he had to put all he had into it. He took his last swig of liquid courage and he shouts out, “Bieeeeebel!!!!!!”, In hopes of channeling some of Bieeeeb’s back nose grind energy.

Now in a way, Dave landed the back nose around the whole corner ledge but he slipped a bit on the roll out. Now if Dave was older then 30 or hell even close to 30 I would of gave him the make. But sorry rules are rules its bolts only! Until your in the dirty 30s…

Well the boys wasted no time and got right into it. Billy just so happen to be riding one of the first Project Grey boards and the response has been great but I digress.

Okay, so I didn’t really skate the Hanger because my eye is still pretty messed up and the lighting in that place is bad enough even with good eyes. So, I just took the time and got some shots of the boys ripping.

First to set things off Dave got this Feeble on the Nike SB bank to bank wall. And then it was a chain reaction.

Right after that Drew hit a kick flip from out the bank into the wall. Right after Fitz comes in hot with a Front 5-0 grind.

The guys all liked the Hanger and ripped the place up for sure. It was time to get out and have some refreshments at the cars. But as we were leaving the park Drew blasts a Front 5-0 over the bump to box. This was 2nd try, by the way.

We headed out the park to get some rest and gear up for the next park. I also felt it was important to take a picture of Dave and Fitz’s rental whip. Of course, laced with product that anyone would kill for.

And last but not least the infamous posse picture. I would love to share the behind the scenes actions of how this picture got taken but I can’t. Man Code!!! But, I will leave you with this, “So I’m in the market for new camera”.

Saturday night all of the San Diego boys decided to make Sunday the day to get all that Sacramento has to offer. Or at least a taste of it.

Sunday morning hits and I’m awaken by Bill’s text that reads, “Get ready, we’re doing this!”. I knew he meant business, so I was up and out the door. Bill runs through the itinerary for the day and I’m blown away at how much ground we are suppose to cover with all the boys.

But, we were off to Davis, CA to start the day skating the college ledges. UC Davis’ campus is littered with so many legendary spots. This past Sunday, it lived up to all of its glory. We had the campus all to ourselves.

This is where I finally got to meet Mike Fitzgerald (Fitz), Dave Jurusik, Andrew Ford (Drew) and David Laurence (Keenan). I have to say that I couldn’t have picked a better crew to be with then these guys. Now, I didn’t bring the camera to this spot only because I was unsure as to what the set up was going to be. But I can tell you that everyone put it down at this spot. If I had to end my day at UC Davis, I would have felt satisfied. But, These boys were ready for the long haul.

Next stop was FTC Sacramento. You can always count on FTC to have the goods you need. We did what most people do when they hit FTC. We checked out all the new product and the rich history of boards that decorate the store is always something worth coming for.

Gabe was on hand manning the store and Eddie was there in spirit (or in paper). This was Dave and Fitz’s first time in FTC Sacramento and they were stoked to see what Gabe and Eddie have done with this store.

More of the Shughe crew were on my side of town this past weekend. Last Sunday, I hit up Sam, in which he told me everyone was at Stoner. My intention was just to say what up to the Shughe boys and that was that. Rick asked me if I wanted to roll with them to San Pedro Park, which led to many excursions and entire day with the posse. A few injuries occurred, but nothing to stop anyone from moving on. Any one watch Entourage? Sort of had that feeling when Vince and the boys swooped up Ari randomly for a Vegas trip.

A super ill day. Wrote a song about it. Like to hear it? Well, here it goes. Just kidding. Here goes some visuals instead.

Here on after, Richard is now referred as Maple Bar Hughes. Stay tuned, there’s more from the day I’ll post later.

Just when I thought that night was coming to an end, Richard tells me to roll through another spot. All of us were more than ready to dip-set out of the first sketchy spot.

When we got there all I can focus on was Yum Yum Donuts next door.

So we had to get the blood flowing again with some maple bars. If you didn’t know, Richard has the worst maple bar addiction that I have ever seen.

After Massimo worked his magic, the spot got live.

First to step up was Maso. He gets an ollie in. I will tell you that most people would be satisfied with that considering if you hit the fence you are going to open your gut on it quick.

Next to step up was Dellas. He gets a front 180. After, an almost kick flip resulted in a broken board. Unbelievable though. Just the fact that he had the kick flip first try, but slipped out.

And then, Rob goes back and gets a back 180 to finish the night.

To celebrate Dellas gives Tristen the assist with the Budweiser.

Overall this was a great night and truth is these guys all skate amazing. You can tell that they feed off each other’s energy. There is so much raw talent out here in Sacramento and it is great to see all these guys ripping.
