Lost Episodes

Posted by Rob Critical

Stopped by the LA SHUGHE Mansion this afternoon before the Niner game, where Maple Bar Hughes was knee deep in some edits. The status of the fourth episode from SHUGHE’s Northwestern Tour was once a mystery. Some might have speculated that it was lost forever. However, it has been recovered and in progress. Can’t wait to get the link for this one.

Another one from the brother Parker and the usual suspects. You know damn well the world will be a better place with the stencil on your grip. Yeah, Stoner locals, I’m talking to you. Enjoy!

You might already know this, but HA has its roots from the 90s. Back then the only way to film skateboarding was with a fish eye. Filming was pretty novice during that time. For the most part you could of had any run of the mill camera as long as you had that lens.

I used to film a lot back then and so did the whole crew. No one really set out to be Ty Evans or Spike Jones, but rather you just grabbed a camera and followed as close as you could to your homie in hopes of getting the clip.

I recently cleaned out an old dresser and there it was… The fish eye lens, circa 1994. After reminiscing on those good old days, I got a bright idea. Hook up this old lens to my phone and give a go again for old times sake.

Now look, I don’t claim to be a filmer. That’s why we have Rob Critical. But I thought I would start hitting the streets and capturing whatever I feel like posting up on the blog for all to enjoy. It’s not going be perfect, but it will sure bring back that 90s feeling. So with that. Fish Bite.

From The Deep End

Due to the hustle and bustle of the Thanksgiving holiday season, I have been neglecting to bring you content. On Black Friday I was running around trying to fill orders and found myself wiped out by noon. I needed to get out and get some fresh air, then BAM! I got the call that all the boys were heading to Mather to warm up and then hit some new school.

It was just what I needed. Everyone skated good and I believe we might even have a new commercial in the can. If that wasn’t enough we started to roam around this school and we stumbled upon a drained olympic sized pool. Now the pictures don’t give this beast justice because the pool had a layer of water and it made it so sketchy. Along with that, if your board was to get loose it was going to be swallowed up by a two feet deep black sludge lagoon.

I will say the highlight of the night was upon leaving the school, Parker pulled off his hood and I saw his hair. It was amazing, I was blown away at what he had hiding under that hood. I have a whole new respect for Space Junk! Please enjoy the visuals.

Classic Mather meet up. Notice Parker is putting Richard’s board together. I’m really starting to think that Rich is a undercover Diva.

Kendo! The Pride of San Jose!

Billy was pulling his weight as always. The best TM in the biz.

Dane had some crazy grinding stone that is used to smooth out ledges. I’m never shocked to see what the SHUGHE Crew has in there bag of tricks.

This wax monster you see had the nick name The Brick!

Space Junks own Parker hit this wallie up and over. This picture doesn’t really give it justice.

Blake and Kennedy resting after working towards a new HA  commercial.

Parker was posted on top the olympic size diving board. This was just moments before I was exposed to what Parker has hiding under that hood.

Notice how Dane has perfect form on this plank. No surprise since he had help with the new blinged out ears.

Kendo was blasting this wall and almost went into the two feet deep black lagoon a few times.

This shot was to show how deep this pool is and also to tease Sam. Sorry Sam, we had to…

Me and Dane pulled the double flashlight app while Richard got this one over the light.
