Mather Nights

Posted by Rob Critical

The best thing to remedy a busy day is to get up and get outside. Yesterday, I got a call from Geno (Lurk Hard) to meet up and have some coffee and talk about future projects. That’s all I’ll speak about that.

After the Lurk meeting, I shot over to Billy’s house to have yet another meeting regarding Project Grey. Before you knew it, the homie Russ rolls in and say’s “What’s up fools? Let’s do this. I’m driving!”.

Done deal.

We were off to Mather.

Now as you already know, I can’t skate due to my injuries from last month. It’s becoming quite depressing, since all I really want to do is skate. But, I figured I could at least take some visuals of the sesh.

The sesh was off to a bad start. There were kids everywhere on scooters and bikes. Not to mention, about a 12 pack worth of glass in the middle of the park. At this point I wasn’t that bummed that I couldn’t skate.

But just as the sun went down, all the homies started to roll through. First up is Calvin. The comic relief was in full swing.

He begins to crook his hat into the OG stance and says to me, “This is my new grip tape company, Drop 5ive”. I swear, this kid!!! I told him we will talk about this venture another time.

Then Judd rolls in. And by the way, Judd was murkin’ the bank to ledge with this laid back 5-O.

Soon after that Rob Mason and Tristen Moss showed up and starting tearing the place apart. Maso was working on this blunt slide to pop out on the beast of a bank to ledge. He rode out a couple of them, but wasn’t pleased with it.

Maple Bar Hughes and Blake showed up not too far after. The makings of an epic sesh was now complete.

Everyone was just out there doing what they do and I have to say, this made for a great evening. Even if I still can’t skate or see out of my right eye. Either way, we still this gangster posse photo. I’m sure at this point, Blake is wondering what he got himself into, joining the HA Family. But, hey. You’re stuck with us now, buddy. You got to deal with it. Ha ha ha.

Oh Yeah, Blake says he wants a gold coat for the winter. Who does this guy think he is? Well consider it done. Black is by far the only one on th eteam that can pull it off.

I got a call from Calvin today asking if he could slide through and pick up his new HA and Shughe hats. Of course I said yeah. So, as I’m waiting I realized I’m super hungry and I made an effort to have Calvin hook me up with a Cheesesteak. But no luck. He already left work. I guess I’m staying on this rehab diet of coffee, pain killers and oatmeal.

I was stoked to have Calvin stop by considering I’ve been trapped in my house with all of my injuries that seem to be taking forever to heal. Conveniently, Street Leauge was on so I knew Calvin and I were going to have a field day critiquing everyone tricks and kits.

So the vibing went as followed…

Sheckler – We both agreed on backing him now that the spotlight is off of him except I still feel he has way to many meltdowns.

Mikey Taylor – Gosh, I got love for this guy just for the fact that he started off with City-Stars and being that I’m an older guy I’m digging the hairdo.

Chaz Ortiz – Okay, now this is were the divide comes in. I understand the level of tricks this kid is putting down but I’m not pumped to watch him skate. I think Calvin would agree also is Chaz on Adidas? I swear he was rocking P-Rods on the X-Games. I don’t want to say much more on this one.

Billy Marks – EHHHH 2000 called they want there skull cap back.

Chris Cole – I get that all the kids under 13 love this guy. He seems nice and all. But, I’m sorry. I come from a generation were people were judged not only on there tricks but there style and there kits. And I am 100 percent not backing Cobra Cole. This is purely based on his stiff back style and thick leather wristbands. As for Calvin I think he agrees with me on this one.

Mike Mo – We both can’t find one thing bad to say about this guy. Both backing 100 percent also he shares a nick name with Calvin aka MO Husk!

P-Rod – I dare you to say anything about this guy. I’m backing Paul so hard and Calvin’s only gripe was he prays in his hat before every trick. Sorry, I pray every day to thank God for life and family. You all should try it some time.

Sean Malto – We both back Sean fa sho. Maybe the only thing we could say is that it’s bad how hard he pushes the Gatorade. But, I mean with the money there paying him, we would be doing the same. Also, Sean won the championship today.

Here are some visuals from Calvin’s visit to the crib. Now I forced him into these pics that were inspired by the amount of commercialism that i was witnessing from Streetleauge.

Classic Product rep pic.

And the infamous whip pic by the rim.

HA crystler 300 sticker rep.

ROB’S UPDATE (9/29): There is nothing bad to say about Malto, at all. He is the fucking man!!!

Here is Massimo’s newest Sac montage, which was recently featured on Slap’s blog. This shit has some heavy hitters in it from all over but more important it has Richard and Calvin!

Calvin For Shughe

Taylor Thompson made a nice little vid of Calvin for us. This vid is also on the Shughe site and it seems that things are already in gear for the boys. So, after you watch this video head over to their site to watch some more.
