I had some spare time today so, I thought I would address some emails we have been getting about season 2 of the Fantasy Factory. Yes, a good friend of ours (Blurry) was on the show and yes, he did wear the HA Critical “Dodger” Interlock tee on a few episodes. Man Horse was a pretty good episode so, I posted it below in case some of you haven’t seen it.

Actually, under the freeway, is what I should have mentioned. Under the Bridge is just more identifiable. With the help from JR “NoCB” Marasigan (aka my Cousin Jay), we got down with some filming and photography this past weekend with the team. This is just a gallery of what went down at the first spot we hit up, the freeway park in the Oakland/Emeryville border. #CheersToACriticalWeekend.

Something from my previous years that I’d like to share for today’s M/M. Around the time where I knew skateboarding was more than just a hobby with some neighborhood kids.

Back in the day, Clint and I were in another skate crew, known as SWS. As anyone would, we wanted to make a skate video. Just months after Clint and I started skating with each other, the Pharcyde’s Labcabincalifornia had released. I love the album. Still one of my favorite albums today.

I played Clint, along side our close friends Cesar and John, one particular song. It was a smooth and very nostalgic song. Track number thirteen. A Moment In Time. I basically told them that this should be the main track and title in our skate video. They were all down for it.

We did heavy filming from 1995 to 2001. A lot of obstacles to make the video. A lot of them. But the title always stayed the same and the Pharcyde song was always the title track.

If you’re wondering about the video… It did get produced. Years after we fell off from filming. I had a premiere on my 23rd birthday actually. Unfortunately, my master copy got damaged when I moved to L.A. There are a few dubs floating around though.

Anyways, throughout the years “A Moment in Time” has stayed an anthem amongst the playlist of my years. Reminds me of many scenes in my memory reel.

So that’s how I spent my Saturday evening. For anyone unaware, the theme for this years Rock The Bells was the headliners performing their classic albums in their entirety. Such as, Rakim performing Paid in Full, Snoop Dogg performing Doggystyle and The Wu-Tang Clan performing 36 Chambers. They had a crazy bill this year, But I only caught Lauryn, Tribe, Wu and Snoop. That was enough to capture some nostalgia.

Here is some backstory if you’re down to know some insight about my likings in Hip Hop…

I was always aware of Hip Hop. I remember walking to my gradmother’s house and seeing my older cousin watching Yo! and Rap City with her boyfriend. But I never paid close attention, really.

Back in ’92 I listened to a lot of Guns N’ Roses and Metallica. No, I’m serious about that. Every so often, I’d listen to Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. Again, I’m serious about that. So at school in ’93, I started getting acceptance in a “Cooler Crowd”, if you will. But, I got made fun of a lot because I didn’t listen to KMEL. But then again, I started exploring more about Hip Hop on my own outside of what was on the radio.

I got one of those 9 albums for one penny deals and Midnight Marauders and Doggystyle were amongst that pile. Randomly, my older brother had 36 Chambers, because he was really into the fact that they were into Kung Fu flicks. That’s how I got to listening to Wu-Tang. Well, those were just a few albums that set in me in a direction of being a fan of Hip Hop today. So seeing Tribe, Wu and Snoop perform those ablums was a serious blessing as a Hip Hop fan. Thank you GU!

Without going into full detail, that’s me being a Hip Hop purist, I suppose. I might have exposed my age a little bit about writing this, I realize now.

On a completely different note, has any of our L.A. readers hit up Stoner Skate Plaza in the Westside? I want to hit that up when I get some time. Hit us up on the comments or on Twitter if you have.

Marc put this on his Twitter last night. Extra points for getting one of my favorite rappers to narrate this spot. But as for the shoe goes, I appreciate how the design became a little more minimal. Suits my own personal tastes, really. Any rate, check the commercial out below.
