Two For Tuesday, Vol. 24

Posted by Rob Critical

It’s been a minute. But, thought I’d bring this segment back with the sneaker route. I’m sure we got readers who can do a little #humblebrag with stacks and stacks of shoe boxes…

…But, while you take a look at your collection, you’re going to need to re-examine your current state as a sneaker head after watching this. Check out Josie Stingray video for “Got To Get It” that she dropped last week. I originally wanted to dropped this for a Music Monday yesterday. It being the Fourth yesterday and being filled with way too much sangria, bloggings was not an option.

Next up, check out Kyle (from Hot Rod) showcasing the Entourage Dunk. One of the first comments I noticed on the YouTube page said something along the lines of “It’s just a black simple shoe”. I can see where this person is coming from. To each is own I suppose. But, c’mon. The elephant print is murking fools (or crackle print, depending who you debate with). That’s just my opinion though.

Can’t deny that I had a rough day. So I needed a laugh. Here goes some Fallon clips.

Dance Avenue: Doing Lines. I do think this is hella funny and I do love the 80s. But, for real. This made it up because of that Karate Cowboy. That had me rollin’ for a second.

2 MINUTE REALIZATION UPDATE: Well that’s awesome NBC. Thanks for the proper embed code. Sheesh. Anyrate here is the link to the video that won’t play above.

WEDNESDAY 12AM UPDATE: Looks like the embed is working now.

Stephen Colbert Sings ‘Friday’ with The Roots85 million views. Not sure for this video. But for Rebecca Black’s “Friday”. That is insane. What six month BFF’s Fallon and Colbert did with the Roots was immortally classic, though. And it went to a good cause too. Had a little “What’s Up With That” inspiration I see, as well. That dude with the QR Code. Hahaha, what the hell?

I was on the 405 and started thinking about how dope Queens of the Stone Age’s video was for “Go With The Flow”. Then I started thinking about Shynola’s filmography. They’re the dudes that directed the video. I never listened to Queens of the Stone Age, before Songs for the Deaf. It was Shynola’s video that made me dig their music. So, here goes to drops from the motion graphic house.

Queens of the Stone Age – “Go With The Flow”

The Rapture – “House Of Jealous Lovers”

PEACE.

I’m a real particular when it comes to skate videos. Real. Particular.

Of course, I need to see sick ass runs and tricks. But I appreciate the way things flow into a cohesively to establish someone’s skate part or promo.

I know that skate vids are more accessible to being rehearsed these days. And because of that I’d like to see shots as organic as possible. Think of every shot in a skate vid to be a note in a melody. One thing that stands out too much can easily make it off rhythm.

Speaking of music, that is another thing I’m particular on. Not saying that skate-minded individuals and skate filmmakers are not creative with their music choices or lack the capability of being music supervisors, but you can tell when someone actually takes time to choose a song for a skate video. You’re accenting your tricks with music to solidify a mood.

Sorry, I’m am just hella going on a tangent. I’ll stop it there, although I can say more. Any ways, here goes two videos from Cliché. Marc sent me a link to one of them a while ago, which later propelled me to watch all of them on their Vimeo page. I’ve been sorting of saving them when it came to my turn for a Two For Tuesday. And they indeed, fit the qualifications in what I look for in a skate video (or promo or commercial, rather).
