Yesterday Shane O’neal took the much deserved win at Street League Las Vegas. It was the last stop of a 3 series contest. Nyjah Huston took the overall win for the Street League series.
This is the Nixon X Street League watch that was given to Nyjah Huston for winning the series.
It’s almost the end of Summer, so, I got down with creating a playlist in podcast form. However…
Has anyone seen High Fidelity? Besides being one of my favorite films, the way John Cusack’s character (coincidentally named Rob) feels about music is something similar to how I feel about it as well. In my younger days, with the frequency of East Bay rain, I used to love to stay in and make mixtapes. Now a days it is just as simple as stacking joints to fill your iTunes playlist. Any rate, I mentioned High Fidelity because of a line mentioned in the film:
“Now, the making of a good compilation tape is a very subtle art. Many do’s and don’ts. First of all you’re using someone else’s poetry to express how you feel. This is a delicate thing.”
Which, it is a delicate thing. Nearly every playlist I make, I like to retain some sort of theme. I know that even within our own posse that we listen to different types of music. I personally lean more towards Hip Hop and I wanted the theme to be a few songs that held me down this past Summer. A Critical Summer Playlist [#42-001], if you will.
I don’t know how often I’ll get down with these, considering that I’d rather promote my friends who are musicians/DJ’s who do have mixtapes, radio shows and podcasts. But you will find these on our Music Monday section for sure.
For now I’m hosting the playlist on Sound Cloud. To avoid a long ass post, the tracklist is on the podcast’s page. Don’t know how long I’ll keep it up though. Any rate, check it out below.
I also have an iTunes ready M4A file available for download.
Most of the artists that I featured have a current project available. You know what to do. Go and support good music. Spend the ends to get one of their tracks or go see them at a show if they’re in your city. And you do know that!
So what we have here, is a little commercial with our team rider Kendo! Made by, of course, this Critical house of HA and our well known NoCB associate JR Marasigan. Check it under the cut to watch it.
Link it. Embed it. Like it. Tweet it. Spread the word. Do what you gotta do.
By the way, be on the look out for some more advertisements leaking very soon…
