Good morning everyone. You guys know what to do. Enjoy yourselves and keep it safe. The 2010 flyer is under the cut. Looks like the artwork has been blessed by Shepard Fairey.

Last week, HA Critical attended the 1st Annual Official Brand Cool Guy Soccer Cup. When Jason, from Official, gave me the call to fill in for a team that had dropped out of the event I said, “Hell yeah, sounds fun”. It only took about five minutes until I realized, I might have gotten HA a little over our heads here. The player minimum was seven and that was including the goaly. Being that the majority of the HA Crew is spread out in a few different cities, I knew I was not going to be able to get enough players in time. Just as a side note, we only had about a week to get players together for our team. At this point I reached out to a former coworker that I had remembered like to play soccer. I asked him if he had any friends that would like to play in the C.G.C. Within a few days we had a team.
Fast forward to the first game, where we played The Official Brand. It was 90+ heat and I only got a small amount of time to meet the people that would be representing HA. I knew I had, HA Critical team manager, Billy Miller, who is a fellow father and youth girls soccer coach. Other then that we were in the dark on how our team was going to conduct themselves.
Game start. I feel HA came out of the gate with a little fire with scoring the first 2 points. It was at that point that the game shifted gears. The Official brand went into survival mode and came back with a vengeance. I subbed in for one of our guys since the heat was cooking us in our HA-lly Wood Hiatus tees. So I got in there and played defender or so I thought. I realized real quick that I have no business being on a soccer field unless it is to coach my 9 year old’s team. I know now that, The Official Brands team was made up of friends, that were not all great soccer players but it felt like I was defending David Beckem. Funny how small you feel when you realize you suck at something. We lost that game and I was okay with it.
The next game we played was against Lurk Hard. I was excited for this match since I felt we had a good idea of what to expect now. Well the Lurkers crushed us! Nic and Chuck were all over the place and Rob Mason is what I believe to be part Kangaroo. Rob is not only an amazing skater but most likely could do anything good. I put my daughter in for a little bit of this game and she held up pretty good. Another side note, Nic had the class of a king, when it came to playing against my 9 year old. I saw him take two diggers just so he didn’t run into her. Thank you Nic, I got a 40oz waiting for you!
Now that is two losses and were about out of the cup. I thought we were going to be playing the other losers. Unfortunately, the players I got were ready to leave, so we packed it up and headed home to catch the Laker Game.
There were some great players out there and great teams: Ground Zero, Heritage, 916, Getta Clue, Golden Bear, Official and Lurk Hard. I wish we could of had a proper HA Squad, but we tried our best. Big ups to Jason for putting together a great event, we look forward to next year. Next year, I think I am going to bring cleats and maybe a face guard, just saying…

The Officials.

The Criticals.

Jason from Official (in the blue).
